Beginning in the Spring of 2008, the US Dept. of State will began issuing a US Passport Card in addition to the traditional Passport Book. The card is a low cost, limited use alternative to the Passport Book designed for those living along the border. The card is for land and sea travel within North America and can not be used for air travel. An Application for both the Passport Book and Card can be completed on the same application.
